HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL!!! :)

I hope you all had happy and safe celebrations last night.
And those of you who follow me on Facebook know that me and my mom stayed up until midnight cooking, and then polished off a bottle of champagne and listened to the countdown on NPR.

And seeing as how I spent the last four New Years Eves completely alone, I count spending New Years Eve with my mom an insurmountable improvement. :P

Today, she, my dad and I are messing around in the kitchen and assembling every liquor bottle in the house for our gigantic-ass pot luck supper.
In my family we don't celebrate New Years Eve... at all... like at all at all... New Years Day on the other hand, we're expecting anywhere between 30 and 60 people to show up. For this, out 15th annual New Years Day party. Lots of croissants, bacon, champagne and baked goods, and whatever the hell everyone else brings.
And yes, this is the first time in four years that I get to attend the party. It's great. :D

For me personally, I like to use the New Year as a benchmark to look back and see what I accomplished in the last 365. So I'm going to do just that.

-I started this year off in unquestionably the worst-paying, most degrading job of my life. But now I left the heartless corporate machine behind and am with a company that's large enough to do significant business but small enough to retain it's humanity. I'm now the supervisor of my own department and I'm being paid better than I ever have been in my life

-This marks the year me and my father went on a small odyssey of sorts. Driving from the southernmost reaches of Florida to the heart of southern New England, throwing all my earthly possessions into my car and moving from the sunshine state to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

-This marks the year I started sharing a home with my high school friend Glenn and his wife Cait, and we are the proud tenants of an austere, hundred years young, two-story New England house.

-This marks the year I finished my second rough draft of a novel. Taking me an entire nineteen months to complete, (the unpublished) "Alidyve's Journal" clocked in at 326,000 words (just over 900 pages)

-This also marks the year of a melding of my DA family with my real life family, in a way.
On our journey up the east coast, my father and I stopped to break bread with one of my dearest and longest standing DA friends =KabukiKatze and her husband.

Well, that's my year-in-review. But what are some of YOUR years-in-reviews?
Let me know in the comments what y'all accomplished in the last 365, or what you might WANT to accomplish in the coming year! :)

Have an awesome New Years Day everybody!
And enjoy this little ditty from our pals at Jibjab to serenade you into 2011!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
       And everybody cheer
       We've managed somehow, friends,
To make it through another year.
Let's stay up late, let's celebrate,
And then count down from ten
'Cause tomorrow when we wake up, guys,
       The whole thing starts again.

It's New Year's Eve and I'm a beaut
Dressed up in my tuxedo suit
       Got a shirt and vest
That are starched and pressed like new.
I do, and I'm lovin' the view!
'Cause it's New Year's Eve and I'm lookin' swell
With a white carnation in my lapel
       Got a coat and tie
       And I can't deny it's true.

It's New Year's Eve and I do believe
I'll hit all of the restaurants in sight
       The parties at Sardi's
       And old Guy Lombardi's
       Doing the countdown tonight.

Well, it's New Year's Eve; let the party rock
Let's dance, and then, when it's twelve o'clock
       We'll sing them tunes
And we'll pop balloons with a cheer!
Hear hear!
Bring out the confetti; we're ready
       Hey, happy new year!

It's New Year's Eve, so let's all get dressed
In a tux or gown; when you look your best
You're the belle of the ball
You're the one that they all came to see!
Happy new year!
Happy new you, my friend,
       And happy new me! Mwah!

May auld acquaintance be forgot
On New Year's Eve, they say
Let's give a cheer; a brand-new year
Will soon be here to stay.
Let's drink our fill o' sasparilla
We're too young for champagne
And every New Year's Eve
It's time to scream and go insane!

It's New Year's Eve and it's almost here
We'll dance and swing from the chandelier
       And we'll all go nuts
When the ribbon cuts, we'll cheer.

When midnight comes, we'll cut a rug
We'll toast each other and kiss and hug
       As the shouters and screamers
Throw all of those streamers right here.

It's New Year's Eve, but don't you grieve
'Cause another year's headed our way
       It's gonna be great
       'Cause we're stayin' up late
Then tomorrow we'll sleep in all day.

It's New Year's Eve; gonna have a blast
The new one's here and the old one's past
So forget your worry
       And everyone hurry, you hear?
It's OK, be a jerk, go berzerk;
       Have a happy new year!

And a happy New Year to you too! :D We had a party at our grandparents, with our crazy dysfunctional family. XD But you gotta love 'em~

I didn't do much remarkable this year, besides become Osprey Junkies with the most awesome biology geek evar! :XD:

Another something I thought you might find interesting is a little stowaway we had to our party! My aunt brought oysters(Yes, raw. It's like sushi but a million times more disgusting XD) to the party, and although I turned down a taste, we did get a somewhat pleasant surprise when opening one of the oysters! A little crab! XD I'm not sure what kind he was(Which is saying something, I've spent a good portion of my life digging up different kinds of crabs at our beach), but there was a live crab in one of the shells. It was awesome! We named him Kevin. He died before the party ended, though...

Happy New Year, Anna! :)
And I would hope that your dysfunctional family is still lovable and cool... I would guess that they are. :D

Well, you're going to have to introduce me to this "most awesome biology geek ever." They sound like a hoot.

Wow, that's so weird.
When my sister went to Bermuda and brought some seashells home, we found a little crab in one of the shells.
... And, as you might guess, the poor little fella died shortly after we found him. :(

I'm sorry you had to lose Kevin.
But still, here's to finding unexpected arthropod prizes in our shells! :D :highfive:

Happy New Year, Anna!

Happy 2011! I can't wait for this year to get properly started, theres so much to look forward too ^__^

I'm glad your 2010 ended well in comparison to how it started :) Funnily enough I began my year working in a terrible job and ended up becoming a freelance artist, I was instantly so much happier!

I think 2010 took a while to get into, but ended with so many great times, not to mention many plans for the future ^____^

Happy New Year to you as well, m'lady.
Here's hoping we both have a lot to look forward to in the coming 365. :ahoy:

How coincidental for both of us. I'm really glad we both had stellar years in that regard.
YAY US!
