A male Anhinga at the Corkscrew Swamp Wildlife Preserve in North Naples, Florida.
Related both to the Booby and the Cormorant, the Anhinga is also known as the "Water-Turkey" and the "Snake-Bird."
The Anhinga, along with other water birds, has among the fastest reflexes in the animal kingdom. Capable of striking at a target in one tenth of a second, the bird can move faster than the human eye can perceive.
This picture takes prime position as one of my favorite wildlife shots of yours. Everything about the picture is wonderfully spot-on. The composition is fantastic, the diagonal lines of the trees giving the picture a sense of motion and movement and keeping the viewer's eye dancing around gleefully. The cropping is nice and tight, focusing in nicely on the subject. The colors are great too, bright, but not too bright.
All in all, I can find very little to really critique you on. If anything, I might say that the cropping is a little too close, that a little breathing room on the left and right margins might improve the picture, but half of me contends that the close cropping gives the picture a sense of immediacy. SO, take yer pick, really.
