"Richard Parker turned and started clawing the shark's head with his free front paw and biting it with his jaws, while his rear legs began tearing at its stomach and back. Richard Parker's snarling was simply terrifying."

Yeah, so I never actually read "Life of Pi" beforehand. (There are only so many books one human being can read in a lifetime. So sue me. :P) And the obvious CG in the movie for Richard Parker was... well, obvious. But then, it would be all but impossible to get a tiger to do everything they needed it to do in the movie, so I can't fault them.

By the way, this is not the real Richard Parker. Obviously. xD
This is the awesome Anala, the bengal tigress from the Franklin Park Zoo, Boston.

Richard Parker was freaking boss in Life of PI. I read it and loved the book and I loved the film. But you know they did actually have four Bengal tigers on the set of Life of PI as reference for the CGI Richard Parker. But other more complicated movements were done by stuntmen and later Richard Parker was added in place. IDK if they went motion capture route like with Rise of the Planet of the Apes but they may have done something similar.
