Here we have Kya, one of the resident, female bengal tigers at the Southwick zoo in Mendon Massachusetts.
It was once taught and is still widely believed that the tiger is a completely solitary hunter, with the exception of mother's rearing cubs, but that's not entirely true.
While it has been proven that tigers can be hostile and territorial, they can occasionally hunt and even live cooperatively.
It has been theorized the social structure of the lion was fostered by the abundance of game on the serengheti whereas the tiger, confined mostly to Asian forests where game is scarcer and often smaller the territoriality may simply have stemmed from a lack of prey.
